RE:NEW RE:PLAY Performance Residency Series
RE:NEW RE:PLAY is a series of monthlong residencies in the New Museum theater with public performances for four consecutive Thursdays at 7 p.m. By bringing various kinds of performing artists into an art museum context, RE:NEW RE:PLAY seeks to reopen a dialogue between the visual and performing arts and provide performing artists with a new context for considering the cultural impact of their work. Over the course of their residencies, artists will have the opportunity to allow critical discourse to affect the development of their work, as well as the opportunity to expand and challenge assumptions about performance on their own terms. The New Museum theater will act as a testing ground for these new dialogues and experiments.
Past RE:NEW RE:PLAY events include:
Wu Tsang: We Remember Stories, Not Facts
UNTITLED FEMINIST MULTIMEDIA TECHNOLOGY SHOW
THEM AND NOW: Ishmael Houston-Jones with Chris Cochrane and Dennis Cooper
Nick Hallett: Voice & Light Systems
