Election Night Trivia at Salon Aleman
Drinks are free
Must be 21+ to enter
On Election Night 2008 the New Museum hosts an evening of tequila, trivia, and live-stream coverage of the exit polls. Artist Eduardo Sarabia’s Salon Aleman project, including his sculpture Babylon Bar, and his limited-edition Tequila Sarabia will be imported to the Museum for a gathering of campaign camaraderie and fun-filled, trivia-distracted anticipation. You and your friends are invited to drink, commingle, and participate in the Campaign Stump! trivia game while awaiting the outcome of this historic Presidential election. Prizes will be awarded. Hosted by comedian Desiree Burch. Special thanks to Trivia Bob (a.k.a. Bob Carney) of Trailside Entertainment for providing Campaign Stump! trivia quiz materials.
Named after an old restaurant in Guadalajara, Mexico, Eduardo Sarabia’s Salon Aleman was conceived by the artist as a gathering place and departure point for cultural investigations on the global, popular, and academic. As the basement bar of unitednationsplaza, a project by Anton Vidokle, Salon Aleman hosted numerous post-discursive activities from October 2006 to November 2007. Salon Aleman was also included in the recent 2008 Whitney Biennial as part of the Park Avenue Armory program, where participants met for tequila and conversation at the bar over three nights in March 2008. Eduardo Sarabia is an artist based in Los Angeles, Guadalajara, and Berlin.
Desiree Burch is a New York-based comedian, writer, and producer. She has been a member of the New York NeoFuturists (2004–2007), host and curator of the SMUT Reading and Performance series at Galapagos Art Space (2004–2007), and is the founder and producer of the Hysterical Festival: A Celebration of Women in Comedy, which recently celebrated its inaugural year at Comix comedy club.
