Urban China: Jiang Jun
Jiang Jun, the visionary editor-in-chief of Urban China, will present a dynamic multimedia presentation of the history of Urban China magazine, the first magazine exploring urbanism, architecture, and development published in China, and the starting point for the 3M commission Urban China: Informal Cities on view in the Glass Gallery. In conversation with Benjamin Godsill, New Museum Curatorial Associate, Jiang Jun will discuss how Urban China tracks the rapidly changing nature of Chinese cities and what these alterations of space mean for forms of social control and organization in contemporary China. Never-before-seen photographs, maps, and diagrams from Urban China’s extensive collection will accompany the talk.
