Museum as Hub space, 5th floor

Museum as Hub: An Introduction

The Museum as Hub is a laboratory for art and ideas realized as a dedicated space in the New Museum, an interactive Web site, and a conversation among five arts organizations from around the world: Insa Art Space, (Seoul, South Korea); Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo (Mexico City, Mexico); the New Museum (New York, New York); Townhouse Gallery of Contemporary Art (Cairo, Egypt); and Van Abbemuseum (Eindhoven, The Netherlands).

For its launch, Museum as Hub partner organizations consider the topic of neighborhood to embark upon an international exchange of ideas that appreciates the unique and divergent perspectives of particular streets, cities, nations, or regions of the world. The topic of neighborhood allows each organization to share artists' projects relevant to concerns of their particular institution. It reminds us of the context in which artists live and work, and how arts organizations are charged with the responsibility to support and present challenging ideas. This initial presentation, which includes documentation and a selection of works, is an introduction to the Museum as Hub partners and the projects currently in development.

Participating artists include:

Christoph Draeger (Museo Tamayo)
Sangdon Kim (Insa Art Space)
Koh Seung Wook (Insa Art Space)
siren eun young jung (Insa Art Space)
Ayman Ramadan (Townhouse Gallery)
Rho Jae Oon (Insa Art Space)
