Betty Goodwin: New Work
“Since the late 1960’s, Montreal artist Betty Goodwin has held a special place within Canadian art. Unlike many of her contemporaries, who subscribed to an abstract formalist style, Goodwin chose a figurative aesthetic. Central themes for Goodwin—transparency/opacity, folding/unfolding, passage/obstruction, human vulnerability and the struggle for survival—were reflected in this exhibition of large-scale drawings that included part of her new ‘Carbon’ series.
