Design and make your own solar-powered FM radio using only recycled materials. Learn about urban survival and resiliency. Free handbooks on site.

NYC arts collective the Canary Project will lead a workshop on designing and building solar-powered FM radios using recycled and repurposed materials. Participants will get to take home the designed device (while supplies last). The making process will take about forty-five minutes. The workshop will conclude with a participatory performance of John Cage’s “Imaginary Landscape no. 4 for 12 radios.” Additional material about urban resiliency will be on hand, including a Canary Project–designed handbook on DIY projects.

This program is part of the Canary Project’s “Modern Primitive Exchange: Design and Ideas for Living through the End Times.”
