“Foamspace” is a virtual platform with territorial consequences and a revenue paradigm for civic engagement: built of geofoam blocks for the IDEAS CITY Festival, it is designed to mobilize value and organize a community of architects and artists. As a mobile work of architecture, the installation is preceded by financial tools built on the bitcoin block chain. After the Festival, the geofoam blocks will be sold to establish a fund. Join the platform, create a digital wallet, and receive a Foamspace Coin to claim your stake in the community. Propose a project, vote on the next funded event, and participate in consensus-driven architecture.

SecondMedia won the 2015 IDEAS CITY Street Architecture Prize with Foamspace. Organized by Storefront for Art and Architecture and the New Museum, the Prize is awarded to an interdisciplinary team with the most innovative project for a temporary outdoor structure to be built as part of IDEAS CITY. Foamspace will premiere at the third IDEAS CITY Festival on Saturday May 30, 2015.
