Off the Map: Trusty Sidekick Theater Company

Off the Map is an original theater piece developed by Trusty Sidekick Theater Company for those aged between two and five, in addition to their family members. This exciting project draws on the vast potential of the subway system. No matter what your destination is, you enter a world of new experiences when you journey underground on the subway. Who knows what characters you may encounter, what daydreams or memories may enchant you, or what unexpected routes you might discover along the way.

In developing Off the Map, Trusty Sidekick tapped into a valuable and exciting resource—the preschoolers of New York! The company collaborated with numerous preschool classrooms, drawing inspiration from the students’ reimagining of the NYC subway system and their experience of the urban landscape. Their ideas were taken back into the rehearsal room and incorporated into the show. Through music, puppetry, and interactive performance, Off the Map reminds audience members of all ages of the unparalleled resource of New York City’s transit system and of the expansiveness of their own imagination. Step inside and discover the many worlds just waiting to be explored. Stand clear of the closing doors please!

Off The Map will be showing at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday May 4.
