Paths to Pier 42: Waterfront Community Day celebrates the future of the pier as a new public park along the East River and announces a series of temporary art, educational, and design installations that will unfold in summer 2013. Join us for a day of community activities for all ages.

LEARN about the new public space and how the community can be involved in creating it through projects connecting arts, culture, design, and ecology. IMAGINE the possibilities, build a model of your vision for the waterfront, and share your neighborhood stories and ideas about what you’d like to see. MEET the artist/designer teams who will collaborate with local organizations to develop creative, built interventions to complement public activities along the waterfront in the summer of 2013. EXPLORE art, performances, dance classes, walking and bike tours, and learn about river ecology. TASTE offerings from local food trucks.

The Lower East Side Waterfront Alliance and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, in partnership with State Senator Daniel Squadron and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, are developing this participatory process to invite residents to experience the Pier and envision its future.

Pier 42 is at the South end of East River Park.
Subway: F Train to East Broadway.

Categories: Food, Performance, Tour, Workshop
