New Museum Art Study Tour: San Francisco and Los Angeles, California
Laura Hoptman, Kraus Family Senior Curator, leads the New Museum's Art Study Tour to California. Trip highlights include a day trip to Napa Valley and Stonescape, access to many of the West Coast's best private collections, studio visits, and curator-led tours of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (and Broad Contemporary Art Museum), among others.

Join Benjamin Godsill, Curatorial Associate, for an annual visit to the new rotation of the collection of Barbara and Howard Morse. Artworks by Tom Burr, Matias Faldbakken, Gareth James, Michael Krebber, and Kelley Walker are presently on view. The Morses started collecting over twenty years ago with a focus on emerging artists. Contemporary Council Event: Studio Visit with Rashid Johnson
Join Benjamin Godsill, Curatorial Associate, for a visit to the Brooklyn studio of artist Rashid Johnson. The recent subject of one-person exhibitions at Sculpture Center (New York) and Kunstmuseum Magdeburg (Germany), Johnson's work merges collective and personal memories with a distinct taste for the magical and uncanny, creating totems of histories that might never have existed. This special visit will feature the embryonic stages of a new body of work the artist is embarking on in preparation for a gallery presentation later in the spring. 10-12 Crosby Street near Howard Street
Experience inside access to fashion designer Derek Lam's Crosby Street store, designed by SANAA, the Tokyo-based architects of the New Museum. Derek Lam will join us for a portion of the evening to speak about his inspirations, process, and the intersection between the architecture of his store and his own designs. Also, enjoy an exclusive viewing of pieces from his latest collection hand-picked by Lam.

Contemporary Council Event: Walking Tour of SoHo Galleries
Join Benjamin Godsill, Curatorial Associate, for a lively walking tour of galleries that have sprung up over the past decade on the far western frontier of SoHo. Council Members will have unique access to the artists on display, as well as the back rooms, not usually available for public view. Galleries will include newcomers such as Renwick Gallery as well as more established galleries such as Harris Lieberman.
