The New Museum Store has long been considered a premier destination for those seeking a comprehensive and international selection of contemporary art book titles. Guided by a team of renowned curators and book buyers, the Store consistently stocks the most stimulating and rare monographs, critical texts, and visual reference volumes from galleries, museums, small presses, artists, and commercial publishers the world over. The New Museum Store also offers artist-designed editions and gifts for budgets small and large, as well as two- and three-dimensional editions, and a cutting-edge selection of CDs and DVDs. At the new New Museum Store, you can also find unusual stationery, hand-screened T-shirts and totes as well as ceramics, jewelry, tableware, and furniture—all made by artists. Made-to-order carpets, chandeliers, and furniture are also available through our new TOP SHELF department online and in the Store.
Additionally, the Store serves as an intimate setting where artists, designers, students, and other denizens of the contemporary cultural scene come together to celebrate new releases and new ideas. Over the last five years such notable writers and artists as Laurie Anderson, Takashi Murakami, Martha Rosler, and Slavoj Žižek have chosen the New Museum Store to host their book signings and receptions.
The Store also offers a new Library Service, which makes its expertise and experience available in sourcing contemporary-art publications through monthly title lists and a personalized buying service for private collectors, institutional libraries, and university art departments as they develop their contemporary art book and DVD collections.
In operation since 1998, the New Museum Store has claimed a place among the leaders of museum retail, even as it continues to explore innovative entrepreneurial initiatives true to the New Museum’s forward-looking mission.
