First Saturdays for Families: Playtime Fun, 2018

Join us for Family Day presented in conjunction with the exhibition “Asli Çavuşoğlu: The Place of Stone,” on view at the New Museum from September 18 to January 13, 2019. Interested in the origins and cultural symbolism of specific colors, Çavuşoğlu’s new work explores lapis lazuli, a stone exported primarily from Afghan mines, which has historically been used to create blue pigmentation for frescoes. For her exhibition, Çavuşoğlu has created her own wall panels that trace histories of the color blue across time and place. Inspired by her work and lapis lazuli, families will be invited to make work of their own using shades of blue.

New Museum First Saturdays for Families are free of charge. This program is designed and recommended for families with children aged between four and twelve years, and includes free New Museum admission for up to two adults per family. Children under eighteen are always admitted free. No preregistration is required. Space is limited, and tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Your entire party must be present; tickets will not be given to partial parties.
