Expand your library with BlkBookSwap and the New Museum! BlkBookSwap is an inclusive, pop-up event where you can swap from or donate to a book pool that will intentionally consist of Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and POC authors across the Diaspora. Bring up to three of your own books from authors of color that you love and join the Swap! Music for the event will be provided by Tru Violet.

Q: Who can attend?
A: Everybody!
Q: How many books can I swap?
A: Up to three. All books must be by a Black, Indigenous writer or an author of color.
Q: What types of books are you looking for?
A: All genres. Please no academic textbooks, table books, or magazines.
Attending the Swap
This program will be presented onsite in the New Museum’s 7th floor Sky Room and is free with Museum admission. A limited number of free tickets are available to the general public at the link below.
All attendees will be required to wear masks. Please review the New Museum’s COVID safety guidelines in advance of your visit.
About the Presenter
Trae, the founder of BlkBookSwap, is a South Florida-born and raised, Brooklyn-based iced-coffee swirler. Trae works as a legal professional advocating for incarcerated individuals as they navigate sentencing and parole. In her free time, she’s a bootleg comedian, reader, amateur surfer, beach lover, and all other things gay!
About the DJ
Tru Violet (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist and self-taught DJ and nail specialist based in Brooklyn. Her musical expression through DJing and creating mixes is a reflection of her love for many musical genres and the emotions they can evoke. Her creative expression extends beyond the turntables, as she has the gift of transforming nails into canvases full of personality and expression.
