For a special Gala Edition, Carsten Höller has created a small-scale version of his signature Giant Triple Mushroom sculptures, a highlight of his recent survey exhibition at the New Museum. These iconic works collage multiple types of fungi into surreal and captivating sculptures, which have been included in numerous international exhibitions. Used for centuries to induce hallucinatory visions, the red-and-white-capped fly agaric mushroom serves as the symbolic key to the mind-bending journeys the artist’s work regularly provides. Contained within a delicate glass dome, this new sculpture is presented as a kind of rare scientific specimen brought back from Höller’s own unique visual world.
