Pop-Up Series

POP-UP Series is a curated program showcasing emerging Asian choreographers and dancers. The inaugural season will feature works created by Kevin Ho & Ching-I Chang, Chisa Hidaka, and Xuexin (Nico) Li. It aims to be the incubator for creativity that anchors cross-culture and mixed-media works.

New York Chinese Cultural Center (NYCCC) operates a five thousand–square-foot, loft-style, pillars-free studio space in downtown Manhattan. In order to offer full production presentation, we recently transformed our largest studio into a white-box performance studio with portable sound and lighting systems and marley floor available to dancers and choreographers. Portable seating risers are set up to provide a better viewing experience for audiences. The completed pop-up space will have a twenty-by-forty-foot performance space with a seating capacity between seventy and ninety. NYCCC is the titular Chinese cultural organization in the northeastern United States specializing in traditional performing and visual arts. Its core programs aim to support and present artists of the highest caliber. NYCCC has been commissioning new works since 2005 and showcasing emerging choreographers through DANCE CHINA NY, the resident dance company.
