Courtesy NIC Kay
Artist NIC Kay will share their work in progress for a newly-commissioned video they are creating during their New Museum residency, which will premiere on New Museum platforms this fall. A conversation with the artist and residency organizers Emily Mello, Associate Director of Education, and Andrew Westover, Keith Haring Director of Education and Public Engagement, will follow.
As director, choreographer, and performer of the video, NIC will draw from memories of childhood dance routines and navigating the racially-coded environments of gated playgrounds, stifling brick housing, and ragged sidewalks.
NIC Kay’s keep at it (2021) premiered on September 16, 2021.
