“About Face” elucidates various components of traditional exhibition formats so alternatives can be imagined. Multimedia works and participatory projects engaging the public include: Maria Jose Arjona’s ongoing performance, “Transcription, Infusion and Memory”; Ed Purver’s “Dropspots”; Helidon Gjergji’s “Shake It, Shake It”; Niklas Goldbach’s “On Spirals”; Jason Gringler’s mixed media works; Franco and Eva Mattes’ “Freedom”; paperJAM’s “Under Construction”; Dannielle Tegeder’s “Animated Drawings”; and James Tunick’s “Web Space” and “Free-speech Bulletin.”
Opening reception: May 5, 8:00 p.m.

Alina and Jeff Bliumis’s “Cultural Tips for New Americans” on billboards, scaffolds, and LED screens.
Marinella Senatore’s “Variations,” film screening premiere on May 6 at 7:00 p.m. at the Millennium Theater (66 East 4th Street).
