Along the Lines of Sleeping builds the space to open a dialogue between states of sleep and wakefulness—and the fleeting, sometimes equivocal, moments in between. The dancers effortlessly balance femininity and strength in a piece full of poetic abstraction that is grounded in athletic detail.
In development for over a year, Along the Lines of Sleeping celebrates the unique artistry of dancers Chloe Kernaghan, Ashley Matthews, Sophie Slesinger, Hilary Tanabe, and Caitlin Yuhas, while maintaining the evocative style of performance that KOREresponse is known to deliver. Right in the midst of the city’s endless hustle and bustle, these five female dancers make the time and space to tap into their unconscious creative capital.
KOREresponse is a contemporary dance company recognized for layering thought-provoking choreographic structures with intensely visceral performances. As a young dance company emerging in the New York City dance scene, they are establishing a sustainable voice in the shifting dance paradigm. With bold moves and collaborations, they seek to challenge audiences to step beyond their everyday comforts and into the blurred lines in between to discover something new and exciting.
Along the Lines of Sleeping will be showing at 8 p.m. on Friday May 3 and Saturday May 4.
