Prince Rama’s engaging and often unpredictable ritualistic live shows have attracted a rapid cult following, replete with collective chants, werewolf summonings, Sanskrit invocations, and the distribution of various handmade percussion to members of the audience. Their record Shadow Temple was produced with the help of Dave Portner (Avey Tare) and Josh Dibb (Deakin) of Animal Collective and relased on Paw Tracks in September 2010. Currently working as a duo, Taraka and Nimai have been commissioned for a three month artist residency at Issue Project Room in Brooklyn exploring the link between music and utopia, the first performance of which (an eight-hour-long multimedia exorcism) will be released in summer 2011 as a limited edition VHS // cassingle on Impose and 12” on Not Not Fun. Their new full-length will be released on Paw Tracks in the fall.
