Project Micro-Float (M-Flo) at IDEAS CITY is a pop-up shop and a participatory project. The project gives structure to the tried-and-true tradition of informal loans between friends. Serving artists and arts supporters, M-Flo combines microfinance and online crowdfunding with public events. Peers can be the best resources and personal connections can make things happen quickly. Through M-Flo microloans, artists can finance projects, make connections that last, and get ahead. Friends and family are the launch lenders and all lenders get more for their money in the process. Visitors are invited to check out how it works, browse work by borrowers, and vote on pitches they would most like to float. M-Flo at IDEAS CITY is the inaugural event of a multi-platform project series by Athena Robles and Anna Stein. The project will generate discussions around alternative exchange systems, community, and systems of generosity, and is part of Third Streaming’s presentations for IDEAS CITY.
