This May, the LGBT Center is sending you to CAMP! But not the kind of icky camp with macaroni necklaces and mosquitoes; instead, we’re serving up drag queens, voguers, cabaret stars, roller girls, variety performers, and NO WIRE HANGERS! Jump start your summer with fun, games, and a celebration of the elusive queer aesthetic known simply as “camp.” The LGBT Center kicks off its second annual Summer Camp Festival at IDEAS CITY by “roughing it“—tent included! No mics, no lights—just talent and an inclusive atmosphere welcoming to all. A continuously rotating roster of performers will entertain, interact with the public, teach some moves, lead activities, and sing along to classic campy songs. Downtown queer entertainers are brimming with untapped capital and the Center is proud to host some of New York’s fiercest and funniest during IDEAS CITY!
