Part of the Street Program

NOCD-NY is a citywide alliance of community-based cultural networks, artists, and leaders that joined together to revitalize New York City from the neighborhood up. Our work is grounded in shared values, including equity, diversity, inclusion, and community self-determination. Through workshops, presentations, and performances, NOCD-NY with El Puente will explore how racial and spatial (in)visibility is being challenged by artists across the five boroughs. From emergent hashtag activism in Staten Island (#icantbreathe) to youth leadership in South Williamsburg and Hunts Point (#thisstopstoday) and a multiage and multilingual working group on spatial justice in Flushing Meadows Park, communities are creatively challenging traditional sources of power and authority.
