As part of the exhibition “Screens Series: Naomi Rincon Gallardo,” the New Museum will present the artist’s film The Formaldehyde Trip (2017) in the New Museum Theater on select Sundays.

Screenings will take place on the hour, beginning at 12 p.m. The last screening is at 4 p.m. Access to the New Museum Theater is included with general admission.

Through an experimental and transdisciplinary methodology, Mexican artist Naomi Rincón Gallardo (b. 1979) creates performances, films, and video installations that interweave multiple fields of study, including Mesoamerican cosmologies, queer theory, critical pedagogy, and Latin American decolonial feminism. Combining ancestral narratives, recent history, and queer futurity in deeply political ways, Rincón Gallardo creates new myths capable of motivating better forms of living together.

On October 6, Rincón Gallardo will stage a live performative screening in the Theater at 7:30 p.m.
