Join us for a Family Day drawing inspiration from the exhibition “Jeffrey Gibson: The Anthropophagic Effect,” on view at the New Museum from February 13 to June 9, 2019. Learning and employing techniques such as birch bark biting, porcupine quillwork, and basket weaving, Gibson has produced a collection of garments and helmets on view in the Fifth Floor Gallery. His interest in the aesthetics of these crafts and their futures will serve as inspiration for families to create intricate forms of their own using techniques such as beading.

New Museum First Saturdays for Families are free of charge. This program is designed and recommended for families with children aged between four and twelve years, and includes free New Museum admission for up to two adults per family. Children under eighteen are always admitted free. No preregistration is required. Space is limited, and tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Your entire party must be present; tickets will not be given to partial parties.
