COOL STORIES FOR WHEN THE PLANET GETS HOT, IV

Part of the Aula Series A Performative Conference in Nine Acts

COOL STORIES FOR WHEN THE PLANET GETS HOT, IV is the fourth biennial competition by ARTPORT_making waves for short art videos and animations by international artists who address climate change. In honor of the 2013 United Nations International Year of Family Farming, the contributions focused on food production and consumption often invisible to urban dwellers. The final winner, selected by public vote, was awarded an artist residency at Largo das Artes, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The projection will include work by BitteBitteJaJa (Ulu Braun/Roland Rauschmeier, Germany/Austria), Lia Chaia (Brazil), Magdalena Correa (Chile), Fernando Cortés (Honduras), Marina Fraga (Brazil), Payal Kapadia (India), Bodo Korsig (Germany), Katja Loher (Switzerland), Lucía Madriz (Costa Rica), Danushka Marasinghe (Sri Lanka), Christian Niccoli (Germany), Iván Puig Domene (Mexico), Rafael Quintas (Brazil), Abderrahmane Sissako (Mauritania), and Janaina Tschäpe (Germany, Brazil, US).

ARTPORT_making waves is an international curatorial practice that raises awareness about environmental issues with a focus on climate change through art exhibitions, video projects, residency programs, advisory and educational programs, as well as collaborations linking art, science, and politics with the aim of inspiring social change.
