Part of the Street Program

Join a senior citizen–led walking tour of the Lower East Side. The public is invited to meet this invisible yet vibrant population in a sukkah, which will serve as a starting point and a kiosk, furnished with maps, images, and audio/video. Moving Stories will be the culmination of a series of storytelling workshops and group walks facilitated by artist Laura Nova. The project will encourage local senior citizens to combine physical movement and memory with an aim of sustaining community and engaging people across cultures and ages. The tour will take the public on an immersive journey, unraveling stories of residents of an ever-changing neighborhood while preserving personal identity and connection.

Manny Cantor Center tours will be leaving from the Shared Tour Hub in Sara D. Roosevelt Park at the corner of Stanton and Forsyth Streets at 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m.
