The Office of Recycling Outreach and Education works to increase participation in New York City’s curbside recycling program using a grassroots, community-by-community strategy.
Greenmarket was founded in 1976 with a twofold mission: to provide small family farms the opportunity to sell their locally grown products directly to consumers, and to ensure that all New Yorkers have access to the freshest, most nutritious, locally grown food the region has to offer.
Grow to Learn NYC, the Citywide School Gardens Initiative, was established in 2010 as a public-private partnership between GrowNYC, the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, and several government agency partners, with a mission to inspire, promote, and facilitate the creation of sustainable gardens in public schools throughout New York City.
