Interactive Model, Place It!
Place It! is a design-based, urban planning initiative developed by urban planner and artist James Rojas. The project uses model-building workshops to help engage the public in the planning of urban spaces.
Using the found and recycled objects that Rojas has himself been collecting ever since he can remember, participants are encouraged to translate conceptual plans into physical forms and learn about the value of planning and design in shaping our day-to-day lives.
Participants of all ages and backgrounds can build impromptu, collaborative models of dream cities. Held in collaboration with URBAN SPACEship, a group of NYC-based Urbanists, the workshops aim to create environments that represent ordinary people’s solutions to urban problems.
