desigNYC’s Recharging Communities

Interactive design workshops and talks will be offered throughout the day of Saturday May 4. The program will take the following formats:

Sexy Brief Workshop: This interactive series will prepare festivalgoers to be better communicators, better clients to a designer, and better at framing their problems through the writing of a clear and actionable design brief. This workshop will encourage individuals to consider a specific community project, neighborhood association, or cause they’d like to work with during the exercise. Emphasis will be placed on do-ability, affordability, capacity-building, and sustainability of managing a design project.

Project Showcase: Each presentation by a designer or nonprofit leader will provide an in-depth tour of a project from start to finish. Emphasis will be placed on process, engagement with the community, deliverables, hurdles, and outcomes. Presentations will take place every other hour, alternating with the Sexy Brief Workshop.
