Bandwagon provides an ad hoc ride-sharing service between IDEAS CITY project locations for the duration of the festival. Our core mission is to build practical and useful products from the excess capacity generated by our road and car networks. Bandwagon is currently powering a taxi ride-sharing solution in Montreal in conjunction with Earth Day Canada. The organization is also partnering with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as well as the Taxi and Limousine Commission on a NYSERDA-sponsored product called the High Occupancy Passenger Lane (HOP Lane), a program that facilitates taxi sharing from LaGuardia airport. Building on focused solutions to gaps in traditional public transportation networks, Bandwagon is moving toward a coherent and flexible mode of “responsive” transit. We call it Social Transit.
